Overview: Peer Review is the process by which ASCs evaluate physician competency, proficiency and quality of care. It is mandated by Medicare and all of the accrediting agencies and critical to ensuring quality and safety in your ASC. Find out how to avoid surveyor citations for deficiencies in this area in this session presented by a retired Medicare surveyor and current ASC consultant. Focus on the necessary components of an objective, evidence-based peer review program; examples of process failures leading to citations for regulatory noncompliance; the relationship of peer review to quality-based reimbursement; and a critical overview of the legal implications of corporate liability and negligent credentialing in ASC peer review.
